I started in 2000 as a temporary Junior Designer, joining permanently about three months later. This was in the early days of the internet – there were no guidelines about how to do things yet. Very few retailers had an online presence, so it was all very new and innovative. We actually had our own online bookshop before Amazon came along!
Promotions followed: first to Web Manager and then to Head of Content & Web. In such a fast-changing industry my roles have constantly evolved. There have been so many opportunities that have helped me progress.
In Digital, you need to be willing to learn and keep up with a changing market. It’s an exciting time to be at WHSmith!
