I joined WHSmith in 2012 as a Store Manager for a brand new store in Birmingham – a great opportunity to get involved in recruiting the staff and leading the store set up.

I then moved to manage our multiple outlets at New Cross Hospital, helping me develop a range of skills and management styles with the support of the business and my Regional Business Manager.

My next challenge was to turn around one of our underperforming stores. My hard work paid off and these efforts were recognised by the business, when I was offered the chance to join a brand new Store Group Manager Development Programme.


This was a great opportunity to increase my awareness of our wider regional performance and allowed me to put process improvements in place.
