Barista - Smith’s Family Kitchen – WHSmith - North Manchester Hospital

As a Barista at Smith’s Family Kitchen, you’ll provide exceptional customer service and as part of a team to deliver our fantastic store standards.

Contract Type: Permanent
Working hours: Ranging from 8 to 20 hours per week

  • 8 hours per week working any 2 out of 7 days including weekends.
  • 12 hours per week working any 3 out of 7 days including weekends.
  • 16 hours per week working any 4 out of 7 days including weekends.
  • 20 hours per week working any 5 out of 7 days including weekends.

We are excited to be launching our very own Brand New exclusive coffee concept Smith’s Family Kitchen with its local links to Manchester at the North Manchester Hospital, the blended WHSmith store will sell local brands of coffee as well as food, meeting the essential needs of the patients, visitors and staff working at the hospital.

Smith’s Family Kitchen offers over 40 beverage options that are hot, cold, and iced as well as offering fresh baked products in store, patisserie items, hot breakfast, and lunch on the go Smith’s Family Kitchen prides itself on supporting the local community and giving back to its customers with a wealth of offers, loyalty and NHS discounts.

What being a Barista is all about?
  • Interact with customers to understand their favourite food and beverage preferences so they get the best experience on every visit
  • Deliver ‘best in town’ standards through presentation standards, availability
  • Have great product knowledge to sell and recommend our products and services to your customers.
  • Carrying out stock replenishment, ensuring all areas of the store remain tidy and inviting for our customers to shop.
  • Meeting high standards of display and visual merchandising helping customers find what they're looking for easily.
  • Proactively engage with customers to understand their needs and make recommendations
  • Working as part of a winning Team: pulling together with other members in the team to adapt to what can be a changing fast pace environment.


What our Stores would love to see.
  • A passion for providing a great customer experience in your stores by Crafting Great coffee with your passion and energy for that Perfect Blend
  • Good communication skills and Listening skills to understand then customers needs
  • Great organisation skills plus strong attention to detail
  • Able to work as part of a team, supporting your colleagues and helping to deliver the daily activities
