We are looking for a Creative Artworker to join our International Marketing team at our Travel Retail Head Office in Aldgate in London.

The main purpose of this role is creating best in class visual in store design communications for our suite of brands whilst also supporting with artworking requirements for International to support the wider studio team. 

What you will be doing: 

  • Translating briefs into best-in-class creative designs to support the business needs across multiple touchpoints including in-store POS, digital screens, and employer branding requirements.  
  • In store Design briefs that will cover a multitude of key customer plan moments (e.g. Halloween; Mother’s Day; Diwali; Eid; Local Marketing events etc) 
  • Supporting the wider studio team with artworking requirements e.g. promotions and trade driving activity. 
  • Working in tandem with any external agencies to ensure their design work can be easily transferred into the internal studio and is aligned to our brand guidelines. 
  • Staying up to date with current design trends and infusing this knowledge into mood boards and creation of visual sketchbooks for campaign and general design creation. 
  • Creating clear visual rulesets that can be translated into accurate print-ready artwork briefs.  
  • Troubleshooting and finding creative solutions for technical challenges. 
  • Working at pace and multitasking across several design and artworking projects at any given time. 
  • Working closely with the Studio Manager and International Head of Marketing to follow the agreed approval and sign-off process for all creative designs ensuring any remedial actions are implemented swiftly. 
  • Ensuring that the file naming conventions and file management procedures are followed to make sure all assets are archived and accessible.  
  • Ensuring all created design assets follow correct formats and sizes in relation to WHSmith and other sub-brand brand guidelines. 
  • Occasionally participating in international store visits to ensure flawless campaign execution at launch. 

What we are looking for:   

  • Creative and curious by nature and a willingness to be up to date with the latest design trends 
  • Confident working with stakeholders from across the wider business coupled with strong collaboration skills 
  • Ability to manage your own workload in a demanding, fast-paced environment while delivering accurate and high-quality designs and artworks under time pressure. 
  • A team player providing support and creative guidance to the wider team 
  • Strong print production and digital design knowledge 
  • Great attention to detail, including excellent typographical and layout skills are brilliant. 
  • A solid understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud apps (InDesign CC, Illustrator CC and Photoshop CC), and a confident Mac user. 
  • 3-5 years’ experience within a studio environment (agency or in-house). 
  • Flexible with working across both design and artworking projects when required.
