There are two things that stand out for me about my career, first is the ability to be my own entrepreneur within a big company given the autonomy to make decisions and feeling empowered. The second is the focus on people and career development.
Keir's journey at WHSmith
Having started with WHSmith as a Christmas shelf filler, I did not expect to still be with the business post-degree. I had always been aspirational in wanting to progress and I was keen to broaden my skill set, working across multiple divisions within WHSmith fulfilled that vision for me.
At every step along the way I had some great supporters, be that my line manager or key stakeholders.
The opportunities within a business the size of WHSmith are as broad as you want them to be, and I’m still excited by the expansion of the business and future potential opportunities that it may present.
